There are many ways of interpreting a view from a particular location and there a number of different sign formats to suit the needs of individual sites. These can vary from simple compass roses which point out the direction of places of interest which may be seen (or perhaps may not be visible), right through to a photographic or artistic representation of the view on a clear day, highlighting many of the things which visitors might hope to see, and perhaps giving a little information on each of them.
The best sign format might depend upon how extensive the view is. If there is a full 360 degree vista, a circular sign might work best but if the view extends mainly in one direction, a wide format, panoramic panel showing the landscape may well be the way to go.
